Isaiah Snyder grew up in both the Columbia Gorge area and abroad, traveling to do humanitarian and missions work in Asia. He has a particular love for Thailand, a place that he lived for over five years. Much of his experience abroad included providing aid to people displaced by conflict in war zones.
Isaiah has always enjoyed working with youth. He grew up going to Camp Jonah and jumped at the chance to join their summer staff between periods of traveling. He worked there for four years, becoming a part of their leadership team in 2016. He loved the experience, as both staff and camper and still volunteers as he is able. Through this and other similar youth organization roles, he was able to help facilitate positive experiences for youth through mentorship, counseling, and opportunities for fun and recreation. Isaiah has a degree BA in Public Affairs from Washington State University. He loves getting to engage with The Dalles local community and different support organizations around The Gorge. Isaiah is also one of our Certified Crisis Prevention Intervention Instructors at Y.E.S, helping staff learn and utilize techniques for de-escalation, understanding, and responding to crisis.
When not at work, Isaiah loves board games, movies, outdoor sports and spending time with his wife and daughters. Isaiah is extremely excited for the future of Y.E.S. He is confident in the shelter’s ability to grow and provide a supportive space for our local youth.
Isaiah joined our staff in March 2021.
